Resolution
Staring into
space, Rikuo’s thoughts are flying around in his mind. As if he can almost see
his thoughts floating over his head and touching them. He tries to reach of one
of his thought and wonders, “Is this my special power?”. Pulling the thought
that seems visible to him closer to him, again, he wonders, “Am I the only one
who owns this power?”. Re-seeing the thought that he pulled, he remember his
father once told him that every one of them has some kind of special power that
only the possess and only they can control it. Then, he touches another
thought. Or rather a distant memory that he had almost forgotten.
It goes back
to 8 years ago when he was 10 years old. He was playing in the backyard with
Ayumu. Both of them were playing tag. He chases Ayumu around while holding a
worm in his hand. One of his scaring tactics I presume. Ayumu cannot stand
worms and such creatures. So, most of the time, Rikuo would find excuses to
tease and taunt his twin sister. All the time, the whole family would just
laugh at them. It was the happiest time for Rikuo. Just being with Ayumu and
playing with her was enough for him back then. Right before she decided to move
to another country without his knowledge. Rikuo never knew the actual truth, that
Ayumu did not leave Japan on according to her own will. He was told that she
left because she was not happy. That really shocked him and left quite a big
effect on him. He thought that Ayumu hated him and cannot stand being around
him. For loving his twin sister so much, he changed. For some reason, he
started to pay less attention in class, thus, leading to the point where he
does not even attend classes anymore. He would rather spend his time playing
the guitar in the music club and listening to his favourite bands. His friends
were all shocked on his sudden change. He used to be the top student in their
school and he was the one who reminded them to never skip classes and such. But
now, being the opposite of what he used to believe in really gave his friends
and teachers a shock. Who knows what is going on in that pretty little head of
his? He has been torturing himself and beating himself over what happened to
Ayumu. He thought that it was all his fault. He used to stand up for Ayumu all
the time but at that time, he could not have voice out anything. It has been
affecting him all these years. Fantasy and dreams no longer inhabited his head
and mind. He seems to throw all that away just because he thought that would be
the least that could ever punish him for whatever he had done in the past that
could ever made Ayumu ran away to the states even.
He was
devastated of course when he heard that Ayumu left the country without him. He would
have wanted to go along with his sister. After the loss of both very dear people
to him, the only person who could ever replace their place is Ayumu. What happened
to him after Ayumu left big impressions on his family and the school. So, when
Ayumu came back, everything kind of falls perfectly into place for him. The right
moment for atonement he thinks. That is his resolution. Well, at least for now.
Knowing that
her only big sister has some issues with her being in the house, it is breaking
her down slowly. Miyuki Klein does not really know why is Ayumu is against her
so much. Ayumu has been her idol for years, since the beginning of her living
in the mansion.
“Hmm. What did
I do to her to make her dislike me that much?” sighs, “I mean, we’ve just met
and all. A—and—I’ve been admiring her since, like, forever. Dammit, Ayumu! I’m
your sister! And…” sighs again and turns her head to the right of her bed. She stares
at a picture frame of the family before she ever lived in the mansion.
“I could never
ever totally blame her, I stole her room, her position as the only girl in the
family, but still, I am he little sister. Can’t she just forget about those
things?” sighing, she sits down on the chair near her study table.
“Huhhh…It’s
no use, beating myself over like this, I have to show her that I am worthy of
this house too. I really want to get close to her.” She walks to the window and
open it. Staring outside, she made a resolution.
“I know now
that it’s not easy to be near you, Ayumu neechan. But it makes me want to do it
even more. I’ve made up my mind, I’m gonna be with you no matter what!”
With that as
her resolution, she closes up the window and slams her body on the bed and
closes her eyes.
